What's brewing?

There are 139 Starbucks locations within a 5 mile radius of London.

What is that???

We don't really know, but we took pictures of it anyway.

Our Favorite WiFi Spot

McDonald's (or "Macker's," as the Aussies call it in our hostel) has become our favorite WiFi spot to connect to the internet. It's about a block from our hostel and it's FREE! The internet in our hostel has been very spotty and hasn't been working lately so we head down to Macker's to use their internet and get a soda. Cheers!

BIG BEN

Christine and I took advantage of the blue sky and sunny weather and went to Westminster, London this afternoon. We first went to see Big Ben and heard it chime at 4:00pm. We continued walking around Westminster and got fantastic views of Parliament and Buckingham Palace.

Rain Rain Go Away

We had the first day of rain on Monday, October 20th. The weather has been great since we've been here (apart from Monday). It has been sunny most of the time and about 60 degrees during the day, which feels very comfortable walking around London. Christine and I walked around today to go sight seeing and it was a gorgeous fall day.

London at Night

London is beautiful at night. It gets dark here a little before 6:00pm but the weather has been really nice so it's fun to walk around and site see as dusk.

.

The Cafeteria

The Southwark Cathedral is right next to the Borough Market and it's where we like to eat lunch because it has a nice green space with park benches right in front of the Cathedral. The church was built in the 13th century. The inside is beautiful and full of history; two saints are buried there and William Shakespeare worshiped there. It has become our cafeteria in the afternoon when the weather is nice.

The Borough Market

The Borough Market is right across the street from our hostel and it's London's oldest food market. It was established on the south bank of the Thames and has occupied the present site for 250 years. We have eaten their twice and we found out that if you go right before the market closes you can get food for half off!
Stoney Street entrance to the Borough Market.
The market gets extremely crowded on weekends. It's best to go on Thursday or early on Friday.
One of my favorite stalls is The Flower Power City Bakery. This a mountain of their chocolate brownies, which they claim are "the best in town!"
The Market has up to 70 stalls and stands. Producers from all over the country bring a range of fresh produce to the market, including fish, meats, vegetables, ciders, cheeses, breads, coffees, cakes and patisseries.
Another view of the crowd.

As you can see, everything is fresh!
Monmouth Coffee Company is one of the most unique and best coffee houses in London. They have a location on Stoney Street across from the Borough Market entrance and they also have a stand inside of the market during the weekends.
You can pay £3 to have unlimited bread and jam which is served family style on a large wooden table inside.
